TC - Retro Mania

Simon Reynolds explores in his book Retromania: Pop Culture's Addiction to its own Past the way in which current pop culture constantly references its own history and how it is influenced by it. For example high street shops like Top Shop selling clothing to young people today with images of Blondie and Resevouir Dogs on them (own one) as well as tie dye everything. As well as the recent surge in older music videos and acts being showcase and advertised on you tube or music video TV channels. Reynold explains how such a surge in 'Retromania' at present has caused the pop following public to reach a 'tipping point' and questions wether our sense of nostalgia is preventing us from moving forwards and thus looking back and creating new from old. Our act daft punk could be argued to have taken hold of this Retromania by simply not changing. They have therefore become popular as they once were before in the early 90s. They have kept hold of their 'original' audience as well as gaining a new one, a younger audience who are attracted towards their Retro existence.

WL - Shooting Schedule #20

This Sunday we are going to hopefully be filming the final scene for our video. This will include staging a party scene at Tom's house. The set up will include a strobe light, projections and general party footage. We will film the footage on the DJ decks as well as the traveler reaching the venue. We will need to get a large variety of shot types in order to fill up the time at the end of the video.

Rough Cut Update

We have filmed new footage and changed the idea slightly since our previous rough cut. While this is not a new rough cut, it does demonstrate the slightly new direction we are taking our video in.
